What’s you favorite substitute for heavy cream? It does not have to be whipped. I can’t justify going to the store just for heavy cream.

Depends on the recipe. Maybe make buttermilk? Lemon juice and milk. Or if it’s a soup use cream cheese, coconut milk? Nutritional yeast

Half and half. If it’s for a cheese sauce like Alfredo you can use some sour cream too and a splash of lemon

Half and half, whole milk, plain yogurt, sour cream, butter, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese - depending on what food I am making.

Half and half, any kind of milk (will make it less creamy), or even chicken stock would work (or water and bouillon)

Low fat cream cheese in half the amount. For instance if a soup calls for 1 cup heavy cream I use 4 oz of light cream cheese. Saves a ton of fat calories and still has a great creamy taste!

I used whipped cream cheese one day in a sauce instead of cream. Just had to whisk it a lot but it worked.

Depending on what it's for I'll use equal parts cashews (soaked) and water blended in high speed blender.

Well if you whip heavy cream for a while it becomes butter so maybe butter?

Melt 1/4 cup unsalted butter (that’s 4 tablespoons or half a stick) and let it cool to room temperature. Then, whisk it together with 3/4 cup whole milk. This mixture is equivalent to 1 cup of heavy cream
