Just got back from my daily walk. Why are all the fire hydrants painted beige? Not liking it

They are being sand blasted . not painted till warmer weather.

That's a weird color choice. Aren't they supposed to stand out? Unless that's a primer. Do fire hydrants need a primer when being painted? I looked up some stuff and if they're actually silver, it could be so that they're more visible at night. I haven't seen the fire hydrants myself yet.

What was wrong with them? They all looked bright yellow and not in need of paint.

No good hard to c in snow. Did they run out of red paint?
