It is a precautionary measure. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY. What is the big deal. Wear a mask to protect you and other people so you and your family don't have to go thru what other families have to deal with.

@lubeck21 this is NOT the flu and a LOT of people die on the way to herd immunity. If it was possible to sacrifice those who volunteered along the way, then fine. Since we aren't able to choose those volunteers, then wearing a mask is everyone's civic duty.

@lubeck21 the fatality rate of the flu is . 5%. In the US, the fatality rate of Covid-19 has topped 3. 5%. I know what herd immunity is. In order to achieve it, the majority of people either need to be immunized or have contracted the disease and recovered and the latter would require a LOT of deaths, as if the 20, 000 recorded deaths (and likely tens of thousands more since the intentional lack of testing is keeping the recorded death count artificially low) isn't enough. It's called science and you would understand it if you watched anything other than Fox news and tRump's 2 hour daily propoganda rallies he masks as press conferences. Watch international news, like BBC and you will see what a laughingstock our country has become due to attitudes such as yours. Your decision not to wear a mask or support the stay at home guidelines is selfish and narcissistic. And yes, I will be staying at home. It will help all of you if I do, though in a more scientific and altruistic manner than you implied.

Ever since the Glenview outbreak (77+ tested positive) the most I leave my house is 1 a week if that. So I'm not concerned if Niles mandates it.

@duleba KN 95 masks are allowed by the FDA, and are almost identical to N95 with regard to effectiveness, based on industry testing.

@grillwork84 of course if you’re using counterfeit masks, they’re not going to work properly. Certified KN95’s are effective and allowed.

You're both right. There are many out there that are certified and compliant and many counterfeit ones making their way to the market too. People should avoid the brands Hubai or Sanqi

Who the hell cares, just wear a mask. This will all be over soon and if putting a little piece of cloth on your face does nothing more than make those around you more comfortable, then so be it. None of us has ever gone through anything like this bs in our lifetime. Just suck it up, do your part to keep everyone somewhat sane and everyone will be totally back to regular life by Flag Day.
