@pinnace16 I hear yah and with outdoors being safer and the new findings that surface contamination may be less of an issue I had some hope.

No, they won’t. Well at least In Chicago.

@preoccupancy yeah I was able to find articles on Chicago but I know they are also following stricter standards in chicago so I wasn't sure if OP was going to follow suit or not

I’m assuming most towns that border the city will also follow the same guidelines. Who knows at this point though.

@preoccupancy it’s by region. OP is apart of northeast so unfortunately I don’t think playgrounds will open until phase 4.

@bernini the regions only determine when we move into each phase. What’s allowed in each phase is the same wherever you are. Currently northeast is on track for phase 3 along with the rest of the state. The only difference would be if Oak Park decides to enact stricter protocols. That being said, I don’t think playgrounds can open anywhere in the state in phase 3

I’ve been looking everywhere trying to find this out. Lots of guidelines have been released for different businesses but I haven’t found anything for parks. The only thing I can find is something about day cares keeping playground equipment closed in phase 3, which makes me think they won’t be opened. Enforcement will probably be local, so while I think Oak Park playgrounds will be closed, you may be able to find some open further west.

Thoughts on the pools? Are we thinking a strong “no” this summer?
by (310 points)
@orran that would be my guess as much as it paines me to say so.

I've already heard of a few being closed.

Because it’s not about strong healthy robust immune systems and a populace being resilient against illness. Sun, Vitamin D, mental health have zero priority and this scientific data is deemed misinformation/insignificant. When this is actually one of the single most critical pieces of information/practices that will protect people and serve as a preventative.

@heterochromatic because you need a slide to get activity or vitamin d? Whatever

No @dickman. Obv not. I’m saying closing off beaches, forest preserves, “outside” areas etc. is exactly the opposite of protecting the human species against pathogens/illness. Makes no sense playgrounds shouldn’t be open. If they are not open now, then they shouldn’t re-open the following summer nor the summers after that either. Corona virus will still be around in 3 months and will still be around in 12 months and so forth. along with thousands of other viruses. Hash tag Unpopular opinion.

@heterochromatic luckily for me I’ve never cared about being popular.
