How many times did you have to be on meds / see the doctor for sinus infections before they took further steps. This has been an issue my whole life but recently it’s unmanageable. I can’t breathe. Sleep. Function normally. My head is a mess. Yes I’m calling doctor but what was your experience?

After three in less than 6months, my doctor had me allergy tested. Winner winner. Removed my allergens, infections stopped.

My mom has had at least 3 sinus surgeries and still gets sinus infections. She has also done allergy shots. I would rather avoid surgery so I just deal with my sinus infections

Sinus infections can be allergy related. I used to get a sinus infection every month. I was allergy tested and got allergy shots once a week for two years. I swear by them. They changed my life. I stopped bc I got pregnant but now thinking about going back because they helped so much!

@stoned I’m pregnant right now. . Limited on what I can do.

It could very well be allergies! That’s how I discovered my cat allergy.

Had the surgery and it didn’t really work for me. As said above, I’m starting allergy shots so hopefully that helps! I used to get 6-7 a year. It’s lowered to about 3-4, which is still bad.

Some more natural remedies to address possible allergens &/or sensitivities: Keep a food diary & determine sensitivity through process of elimination/adding foods back in. I’ve found my sinus issues (congestion) tends to be triggered by dairy & certain processed foods (I love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups but my ability to breathe doesn’t) If you don’t already make sure you are changing the furnace filters on the regular. I have also found using an air purifier especially in the bedroom has really helped reduce the breathing issues. Be sure to clean bedding frequently & pillow protectors are a great tool as well.

@wulf31 ok but can you come do all this for me? I’m so tired

I’m sorry, I understand. Luckily the worst of it all is the shopping & changing the bedding. Please keep us updated on what you find works for you.

I’ve been tested for allergies & they all come back negative but I definitely have a sensitivity to dairy. Process of elimination.

I literally get sinus infections year round. I was supposed to go see an allergist as that most likely is the issue. Just never got there ‍♀️ Sinus surgery doesn’t fix the infection issues if it’s an allergy.

@serotine I swear I get them at least 3 times a year

Rhinocort nasal spray helped me tremendously. And taking zyrtec daily year round.

They never put me on meds for a sinus infection. I have to suffer through it

My recurrent sinus problems ended up being a dairy allergy.

Get-Demand a allergy test! I had one sinus infection after another until I was allergy tested and started allergy medicine and shots. I have had only 1 sinus infection since. Allergy testing is not fun but it is worth it in the long run!

My doctor ordered a CT immediately n looked in my nose with a little camera thing in office. Go to Dr. Donzelli. He's awesome!

Thanks everyone. He wouldn’t order an allergy test. Just shoving more meds down my throat. Refused to believe it was allergies.

My mom had chronic sinus infections and finally a doc recommended she take an allergy pill every day 365. That was 3 years ago and she hasn’t had one since. Try it but go to an ENT.

You can take Afrin for immediate relief for now. But still find the root cause.
