You could try some Benadryl? Also it would look pretty red in there if it was an ear infection. My dog gets ear infections anytime she rides in car and sticks her head out of the window when it’s chilly.

My dog does bc he has allergies around this time of year. He just takes some Benadryl and he’s good to go!

@isoniazid8549 how much? People Benadryl?
by (380 points)
@versus1234 yes people Benadryl! I always buy adult pills bc I’m terrified of anything children’s for dogs since they use xylitol is so much now and that’s poisonous to dogs. 1mg Benadryl per lb for the dog is the dosage. You can round up/down a bit too. Like my girl doggy is allergic to the rabies shot so I have to give her half a pill (the vet recommendation) of Benadryl which is roughly 12. 5mg and she’s 10ish lbs. My allergy man is roughly 60lbs and he takes two pills in cheese. His ears get very warm to touch and red on the inside hairless part (normally a pale pink—also NOT his inner ear, idk what you call it. Ear cartilage of the dog) when his allergies are bothering him. It sucks bc he loves to lay on in the yard and sniff the air all day but then allergies. couldn’t relate more to a dog

Try coconut oil and benedryl. I just had to take my dog to the vet Friday because his itching and chewing was so bad. They put him on apoquel.

Could be allergies. My dog just got over an ear infection and now I keep catching him in the bushes scratching his back and head on the branches. Vet mentioned his seasonal allergies would probably be flaring up soon. Benadryl or an allergy shot fixes him right up.

Pet Supplies Plus has an all natural liquid you can squirt in the ear and chewable dog allergy pills. My bubbas ears were itchy and dirty and his eyes watery. about a week and he is back to normal.

My dog has also been itching his ear like crazy. Do you give one benadryl a day or what’s the dose and for how long?

Check with your vet, dogs can only have a specific amount of Benadryl per their weight. Wouldn’t dose without getting a recommendation from their vet.

What kind of dog? My dog has gotten ear infections recently and needed meds. If the ear is red and irritated, it may be infected

I have a cattle dog that does this. Get some ear wash and put a few drops in the ear and take the ear and rub so it goes down the ear canal. Mine is usually dirty ears so the wash breaks up the buildup.

Go to Rural King and get the dog ear cleaner. Squirt in ear, massage, and clean with cotton ball. Also get the ear mite treatment, it kills potential notes and has an aloe and numbing agent to ease the irritation.

Please don’t put anything in your dog’s ears. Take it to the vet for an exam because it could be anything from an ear infection, a yeast infection, allergies, or ear mites even.

The only way to really know is to do a ear culture. It is just a swab that is sent in to see what exactly is going on. I could run over and grab one for you if you can get the vet to give you a order. They charge 25. 00 to run the ear culture where I send it.

I clean my dogs ears when she gets like that with a warm wash cloth. I really try to get in there. It seems to help. They also sell ear wash pads and liquid on Amazon and at the pet stores. That helps too.

I have a Pitt that gets chronic ear infections even from the shortest walk on a windy day. I take coconut oil melt it down but it in a baby syringe and squirt it into the ear and rub around. Of coarse it can't be hot when you squirt it in. I actually was told this by a vet that takes care of bigger animals that are always outside and no lie this is the only thing that works and also keeps the infections away!

Look at their diet. 90% of the time that’s the cause.

Mine goes it all the time! Her allergies are horrible, no egg, no chicken. All fog foods have some sore of chicken part in it, or chicken broth. We finally found a lamb roll and she is better. I cook weekly sweet potatoes, ground beef. Occasionally rice. This week I made salmon. I was told by my vet to give her (26lbs) 1 25mg tablet Benadryl daily until symptoms get better. If her ears are raw from scratching we have ordered from chewy the ear cleaner and numbing ointment. (You should check for mites from the vet first. ) I can pm you a photo of them. I hope this helps

You can use a vinegar solution too. Many ear infections are yeast based and vinegar changes the pH and kills the yeast. That way you don't have to go out
