Allergies.  Mine are off the charts this year.Allergies. Mine are off the charts this year. I took a 10mg pill of Zyrtec this morning at 9:45. So I’ve had about 6 hours of relief before the symptoms start really acting up again and it says no more than 1 pill a day. What else can I do to curb these symptoms? It’s misery over here!

Mine are so bad that my doctor had to prescribe me stronger allergy medication. I would call yours if nothing else seems to help.

Mine have been out of control this last 5-7 days! My eyes are the worst!

@danitadaniyal3 same. My eyes at night are awful
by (1.2k points)
@sylvestersylvia YES! Last night they were so bad it scared my daughter to look at me
by (270 points)
@danitadaniyal3 it's like they hurt open and closed. I take Zyrtec and flonase daily. I swear we need an Oswego moms allergies page. Lol

My allergist told me to take a 24 hour pill in am and pm. Plus I take benedryl to sleep. He said the extra doses will not hurt, but are needed to get things under control. Plus should start a couple months before your bad season to get it in your system.

My longtime allergy meds starting working less and less. My doctor said you should switch every year because they become less effective.

Quit bitching   I’ve only had prescription allergy meds work. Has a doc gone that route?

@quadrumanous I used to have an allergy doctor as I was on allergy shots. I seemed to have grow out of the majority of my allergies but this year they are back with a vengeance
by (980 points)
@quadrumanous what prescription do you get that would work better than Zyrtec?
by (1.3k points)
@viafore @apothecary I don’t even remember. It’s been a long time. I needed allergy shots back in the day too, crazy how we outgrow stuff and then it comes back.
by (980 points)
@quadrumanous NP. I used to do allergy shots too then stopped when I got pregnant.
by (1.2k points)
@apothecary this was me too. Had shots years ago. Hardly had any symptoms forever but this year is awful!

Nasacort has been life changing for me. In general I think nasal sprays are far superior to pills for allergies. I take year round.

I take a 24 hour pill and a prescription nasal spray. I also use local honey daily which is supposed to help build immunity to the allergens around us.

Mine are really bad today. I took an Allegra D this morning and it took 2 hours to kick in and only lasted about 3 hours.

I take an allergy pill as well as a nasal spray. Also honey and bee pollen can help build up your tolerance to allergens in the area, but make sure it’s from this area. Not sure if you an Aldi shopper, but I like its brand of nasal spray.

Take over the counter Loratadine or Cetirizine for a month. Your symptoms should disappear.

Flonase + Allegra once a day works well for me.

Some times your body will get used to one type of allergy medicine. Switching up what you take can help. Also check with your doctor about dosages. If you’re congested then get the behind the counter one and rotate them.

The trick is to start your allergy regimen in March. I start Alaway eye drops and Flonase in March and it keeps my allergies from getting out of control once spring truly hits. Im allergic to all trees/grass. I know it's too late this season to take advantage of the early start, but put a reminder on your phone for March 2021. Try Allegra in the meantime, u can take it every 12 hrs

Talk to your doctor, mine upped mine to the “prescription level” of 20 mgs/per day. Also I take sudafed when needed and flonase too. all recommendations of my doc. They all work together and I get a TON of relief. And believe me. My allergies are DEATHLY bad.

Heres what will help- Zyrtec or Claritin TWICE daily as long as 12 hours between doses. Add saline nasal spray 1 spray each nostril then blow it out, after Flonase I spray each nostril TWICE daily. Do all this consistently for 2 full weeks then decrease to once daily until mid June. NEXT year start the same regument on April 1st. Get better soon.

Nasacort. Changed my life. My allergies used to be so bad I could barely breathe. I also have a polyp in my nose that swells and makes it hard to breathe. I do one spray of nasacort in each nostril and Zyrtec every night.

An allergy medicine that works for someone may not work for you. They are all different and you have to see which works best for you. We're a family of 5 and only two of us take the same medications. I have horrible seasonal allergies and basically allergic to outside. I have been on Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra, you name it. I've had success with xyzal. My allergist recommends saline nasal spray. Nothing medicated! If you have been outside, take a shower before bed to get the allergins off of you.

Have you ever thought about taking a drop of essential oils? Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint are used as an allergy trio. Add to a clear veggie capsule every day and you're golden! Plus, they come in a starter kit. All natural, toxinfree.

Try singulair! Ask your doctor for a RX. It has worked for my kids and I greatly.

Nasal sprays I have found more effective, personally. I like Flonase. Singular worked great for my kids when they were younger. They just don’t need it anymore.
