How is MetroNet?  We are thinking of switching from Comcast because we pay an obscene amount and if you didn’t already know as of January 1 Comcast raised its rates and will charge you more if you use more data, like if you go over your data for your cell phone. How is MetroNet? I don’t know how exactly they watch it, but they said you get a grace period for going over then will be charged more. So if you do a lot of streaming or WiFi usage, watch your bill.

@vesuvius I will. If we switched we’d be saving almost $100 a month

We switch over. and now thinking of switching back
by (1.9k points)
Yup it was cheap at first but the speeds weren't as fast. We had it go out a few times too and it took a while to get someone out to fix it. As much as we hate comcast we went back because it was faster and more reliable
by (400 points)
@vesuvius yep . at first it's all good. but like every other company you are in the same spot

We have had it for a few years now. Never had any issues but I think once it was down for a short time.

I just switched yesterday and so far no problems. They also came out the same day I called. Comcast was charging us an insane amount and half the time it didn’t work.

We have had MetroNet for a year in a half and haven't had any problems. We had Comcast for years before and it was a nightmare! I vote switch!

There was one time that it was out for a day in my neighborhood in Montgomery. It's the best! I must say I prefer Xfinity on demand much more than MetroNet, but I can deal with it.

This was our experience, we have since switched back to comcast. So we are currently on a 30 day free trial of metronet, we even opted to increase our speed to 1gigabit from our current 300 speed on Comcast. ITS BEEN ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! 1) The internet is horrible, even with the speed increase AND an internet extender we can not have more than 1-2 things running on WiFi at a time. Which is a huge problem when someone works from home everyday. I can't even run my printer and laptop on WiFi at the same time ‍♀️ 2) there is basically nothing on on demand compared to what we have on Comcast. 3) Our cable cut out IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BEARS GAME! (Luckily we still had Xfinity and were able to stream it using our cell phone data) It never came back on so we called the next day and were walked thru an hour of troubleshooting trying to get it back on and we couldn't fix it (person working from home had to take a day off work). Finally Saturday they had to send someone out fix the issue. All of this happened within the first two weeks of our 30 day trial. So needless to say we will not be staying with them.

Mitzi- We switched to MetroNet about a month ago for this exact reason and everyone I talked to has positive experiences. We have internet only & stream everything in several devices. It’s been wonderful! I’m in Oswego, so I don’t know if location plays a factor too in service experience. Good luck!

@vesuvius Johnson thanks! I will look into it!

We switched a year ago from comcast to metronet. Never have had any issues. We stream our tv through hulu live and we have 5 tvs, 2 computers with one child gaming all day long, printer, tablets, 2 playstation 4s and 4 cell phones on wifi and we never had any issues. Yes occasionally it will go down for like a few seconds but never down as many times as comcast was for us. We also live in Oswego so not sure if location matters. We also have our main tv hardwired directly to the router/modem and under 5g rather than wifi. If that makes sense!

We got metronet as soon as it came to our neighborhood. I work from home so reliability is huge for me. We’ve been really happy. We have the highest speed package. When our year trial came up I called customer service and at the end of that call actually ended up paying less than I had been. They have been great to work with.

We are paying over $100 a month for our MetroNet. Our experience had not been great-the did fix the few terrible moments. I am wondering if the $65/month folks are going to see a huge jump in their bill soon.

We have metronet and have not problems. However I find by the time I get Hulu live. Netflix and all the add ons from Hulu it is a Comcast bill anyways. I guess it depends on if sports are must in your home too. I can’t find to much of a savings.
by (1.5k points)
@milkwhite we don’t watch much sports

May will be 2 years since we made the switch. There have been no significant increases in the bill, and even with the highest speed they have for internet, Netflix, YouTube tv, Disney+, and amazon prime we are still paying almost $50 a month less than we did when we had Comcast. We only have metronet for internet.

I have it I like it but in the last 4 months my bill keeps increasing i called and asked why. They told me that all the tv channels are contracted and whatever the station charges we pay so when they up the prices are also go up. not very happy about that.

We switched to AT&T from Comcast. Love AT&T. I wouldn’t ever use metro te. When I called them about maybe using them they were rude and then the sales person they sent over smelled and looked like he was drinking a fifth of Jack at an Ac/Dc concert all night. I called to verify he was the sales person, when they said yes I said no thank you.

I wanted to love metronet because I hate Xfinity so much, but we ended up back with Xfinity after a few months. We lost internet multiple times a day and usually all night long. We had techs out several times a week for several months and while they tried, they couldn't fix it. So we had to go back to Xfinity. ☹️

Try AT&T. Cheaper and so far so good. Their deals for new customers are great
by (1.6k points)
@arriola we got something in the mail yesterday and it was a 2 year contract with promo pricing only for the first year. So for now we're staying put.
