Has anyone heard if the park district pools will be closed this summer? If they remain open, would you go if they enforce restrictions/guidelines?

Pretty sure they announced they are not opening. Too hard to regulate with everything.

Doubt they’ll open. Can’t wear masks in a pool.

@steapsin From my research the coronavirus can’t remain infectious in pool water. However they would have to really limit the amount of people. Swimming laps is pretty safe and perhaps swim lessons if there’s not Contact. Outdoor areas do you have a lower risk of coronavirus transmission and then indoors spaces so I am remaining hopeful ‍♀️

Fox valley park district announced last week there will be no aquatics opening this season.

Part of the issue isn’t so much transmission of covid when facilities open, but the ability to properly train staff.

Most are remaining closed. The locker rooms are huge concerns.

I don’t like public pools. But, if I did, the virus wouldn’t stop me from going.

I’m expecting them to be closed. But I’m wondering about splash pads? They don’t need employees to train, a pool to fill and can turn on and off easier.

@undertint375 ohhhhh good question and great point!

I think pools should open but no lockers rooms to comply, people have to come ready to swim

@crossing10 what about changing after you’re done, though? You have to go home in your wet suit too?
by (3.1k points)
@mclaughlin3846 if I wanted to go I would be fine with leaving that way, with a coverup or towel, I never use the locker rooms anyway

Nope public pools are closed thank goodness. They are cesspools. 2 words. fecal shedding lol

@wootan2 that’s all the time and why I don’t like public pools.
by (3.2k points)
@wootan2 I hear ya. I’m not that concerned with catching it from a pool. But, poop in a pool freaks me out in general. I’m afraid of coming in contact with ANY poop.

@sulfapyridine last year I remember there was a huge stomach virus, poop related that was going around the pools further east of us shut down because of it and a lot of people from raging waves got sick as well. It’s not rocket science, think about it. Many kids don’t like wipe their asses well, some adults don’t, not being mean but a lot of overweight people have issues with that. It’s disgusting if you think about it. People have sores on their body and go in. You have everyone’s genital parts in a fucking pool, it’s like your bathing in everyone’s bathtubs lol. So gross. Not saying we don’t go to public pools or even on vacation but if you really think about it, that’s some pretty nasty stuff. We have two family members that are working with Covid scientifically and this is definitely real.

@wootan2 I may never look at pools the same again.
by (2.4k points)
@emerick15 haha . Sorry. I know so many people really don’t think that much into it but it’s pretty common sense stuff right? LOL If you truly think about it, such nastiness but we all do it. The only place I feel safe and don’t think about it is when we go to Disney which I know people are like oh my god there’s so many people there but let me tell you those pools are cleaned and have a ton of chlorine. Maybe I’m just delusional because it’s my happy place

@wootan2 I’m not a pool fan thankfully.

@emerick15 haha not anymore

@wootan2 I retract the original question

@margheritamargi aren’t you sorry you asked?
by (2.4k points)
@sulfapyridine YES! I certainly am now
by (3.2k points)
@margheritamargi when I lived in GA, people got sick on the regular from E. coli in the water parks. I’ve been grossed out since. LOL

I've read that many surrounding towns have ceased opening up for the season. I think the problem lies in trying to keep the children away from each other. It's only natural to want to socialize by playing with other kids. The latest from the CDC says that it's droplets that we need to be worried about and not surfaces. We just have to wait and see I guess.

Pretty sure the park district hasn't said they're closed yet. The big water park resorts are opening in Wisconsin in the next few days.
