Advice for what to do about "attitude problems" in my kid? I know that's a loaded question ;) But seriously, he's 8 years old and acting more and more like a surly teenager (no offense, teenagers! ). I take away privileges or give consequences, but he just gets mad about THAT and it leads to more attitude. He's otherwise a good kid but I need to nip this in the bud. Have you done anything that worked?

Ugh. I hear you. The getting mad is actually a good sign that the consequence hurts. Good job mom

I just heard Mary Ann Vernon Griffith from Haven Counseling in Yorkville speak on these issues this morning. Can I PM you with some tools she gave me to help with this?

When they talk to me with sassy attitude I ignore them. literally walk away. if they are talking back when i tell them to do something there is no discussion it is strait upstairs. i’ve found that one of my children doesn’t care if it’s negative or positive attention. they attention seek (even though she gets plenty of 1 on 1 attention). So I have been trying to eliminate at attention when she is being sassy
