About 4 years ago the neighbor (who I believe is dead now) used my name to take her dog to the local vet and didn't pay the bill. I shortly moved to another state and didn't realize it until later on down the road. I now have a debt collector calling me, rudely tell me I need to pay my bills. I told her that wasn't me and before I could ask what do I do, she hung up. what do I do now? Am I stuck paying this? I already have a lot of other stuff I'm paying on

Is it definitely a legit debt collector, or possibly a scam?

Wouldnt that be on the line of some kind of fraud to use your name for a bill you have nothing to do with? I'd be calling the actual vet office and dispute it.

Since you know the person, even if they are dead, you need to file a police report. Dispute the debt and show them said police report.

I would claim fraud on it. If it on your report dispute it. Also totally identity theft.
