Feeling so stressed right now but I am not giving up. February was already a tight month for us because of an unplanned trip we just found out about. Which is fine, things come up unexpectedly, we can’t plan for everything, are all things I kept telling myself. So no adding to our emergency fund or sinking funds this month. Ok. Then today we had an obviously unexpected ER visit. Are ya kidding me?  Then tonight my husband’s monthly check was deposited and it’s short so I ask him about it. Well, our health insurance went up $45 a month.  On top of all of this we are now, starting this month, taking our car payment and car insurance payment directly out of his check for a discount through our out of state credit union and I have no idea how to track this? I need a prayer and some help please.

I havent been adding to my sinking funds and EF for a couple months now. It's not happening this month either unless I sell a lot of stuff this month. Probably wont happen until april.

I only have 2 things automatically taken out but what I do is write it down on the paycheck it is coming out of and then when it clears, I highlight it so I know it has been taken out.

Write out his income as it would be and the bills (car & ins) as a debt on that payday. It will be on your tracker to “see it” & you can confirm on paystub. Is this a garnishment? Why on earth would you allow someone to take it from his paycheck instead of paying it yourself? The savings doesn’t seem worth allowing that kind of access.   Next month will be better! Hang in there! There are always bumps in the road and you just have to roll with it.

@saboteur sorry I wasn’t very clear. The car payment and insurance are taken directly out of his paycheck and put into an out of state credit union account that we stopped using because of our new use of cash envelopes. No local facilities so no cash for envelopes but now his check is deposited locally. Our car and insurance are financed through them so if they pull both from one of their accounts they offer a discount. So I don’t know if I set up a separate tracker for that account and those two automatic drafts? This is our first month of having a car payment in 10 years.
