Hi All!  So I need some advice on how to select a tax professional I can trust and who isn't just punching numbers into a program.Hi All! So I need some advice on how to select a tax professional I can trust and who isn't just punching numbers into a program. I started working with someone (my parents accountant - *sigh*) when my taxes got a little more complicated/dynamic. However, I'm looking for a strategist, not just a number puncher. Additionally, this CPA made a large mistake on my family's taxes this past year and I can't see continuing to work with this person. What I'm looking for is advice on what to ask for, experience, training, certs, etc. I'm also trying to understand how MUCH I should expect a reasonable or good CPA to charge. Also, is this reasonable to expect from one person and this is really a job for two or more? Seeking guidance.

I would agree to go with someone you feel good about. Good CPAs charge $300-$500 depending on what region you are in. I always say go with a referral as opposed finding someone online. Ask a trusted friend who you know is financially savvy and ask her or him who their accountant is.

How much for a standard deduction filing, married couple however I wanted to file some non-business bad debt as well (family loan). Could you guys take care of all this? Any reviews I can reference so I know I can trust you guys?

@moonrise679 without knowing all of the details, non business bad debt is really tricky on a personal tax return. Very few people actually meet the bar to actually deduct it. As a rough estimate on the pricing I would say 400-450. As for reviews, you can check out our Facebook page or google reviews.
