I'm just curious who here has had a good experience with Listen Money Matters mentorship program? As a mentor or mentee? I have mentored 3 all the way through, although they didn't keep up with it all that well. I kept showing up. And then I reached out to 1 mentor who wasn't very attentive, didn't follow up. Just curious what your experience has been with it? I loved mentoring and the opportunity for free counsel.

Following- I would be interested in being a mentee. I made poor decisions in my 20s and I am currently paying for them (literally) in my 30s.

I’ve always welcomed financial advice, but was too wary of paying for it.

I think it is what you make of it. I had one guy contact me, but I didn't have knowledge of the subject he was interested in. The next person was looking for info that was closer to my skill set. We chatted for about a week and that was it.

For those following, the program is free. you just have to look for it in the menu of this group.

I wonder if people feel that they get enough just from the Q&A on the group page? I am going reach out to a few mentees that might be a good fit, we'll see how that goes.

I think it is always like this with mentorship program. As a professor, I volunteer to be a mentor to new grad students all the time and only a handful of them take the time or put in the effort. Often I get one email and then nothing. I try to be understanding. People are busy, things happen, etc. But it can be annoying. I've thought about signing up to be a mentee but my situation is so different and specific I really am not sure anyone could be of any help.

One guy asked me on question. I gave him my answer and never heard from him again. Maybe discussions might be more fruitful if it were framed more as a peer to peer. If one person has more knowledge- so be it.
