Wearing masks at work. Ugg I hate them.
by (7.5k points)
@incise Yeah, I am walking 12 miles and mostly on my own so I try not to wear because it's just too hard to breathe. Now if I was going in a grocery store (which I am not), I definitely would.
by (820 points)
@conduction I have to take pretty regular breaks with the mask wearing throughout the day. The first day I tried to push through and I about fell out. I'm a zookeeper so we have modified our policy to protect the animals (just in case, there are so many unknowns about the virus). Even if there are no humans around if we are close to the animals or in their houses we wear them.

Watching my city open businesses today after known cases shot up 300% last week. We just identified 359 cases at a meat plant in town and none of them had symptoms.

#OPENAMERICA ❤️❤️❤️ Why NOT question everything? WHY? Why can you go to Walmart, but not Kohl's? Why the Dollar store and not a mom and pop shop? Why can't you have an elective surgery, but you can have an abortion which is elective?! Why should you stay inside, but yet heat and sunlight kill the virus? Why can't kids (who are not at risk) play on an outdoor playground, where sun kills this virus? Why don't people know that these are "recommendations" not laws; a law goes through due process? Why the fear, when this virus has a less than 1% death rate? Why have coroners questioned death certificates listed as CV-19? Why are areas like Chicago and NY gearing up for mass va*cc*ination? What makes a person essential and another not? Why are they dividing us? How do people not know that we are a Republic, not a democracy? Where has the flu gone? Why are they telling us to mask up after 2 months of lockdown? Why is the CDC saying kids need to be masked when they return to school or attend church, when they know cloth masks restrict oxygen? What is this oppression and loss of liberty doing to the mental health of our kids. to us? Why have most other death rates dropped since the virus? Why did world leaders meet in China in October 2019? Why are the common people being controlled by the government and no one is controlling the government? Why are hospitals paid more for Covid 19 deaths? Why are some doctors speaking out and then getting silenced? Why did Obama give the Wuhan lab $334 million dollars? What does a computer geek have to do with a pandemic and why does he want 7 billion corona virus v*ccines? (In case you don't know who this is referencing-GATES! ) Why is there ID 2020, Agenda 21 and 2030? Why did the CDC have a job posting for pandemic relief workers in November 2019? Why did Dr. Fauci say in 2017 that the Trump administration would be faced with a " SUPRISE PANDEMIC " and then runs the pandemic team? Why are they infringing on Christians' religious freedoms? I don't care if you are a Republican or Democrat, if you are not asking these questions, you should! Start thinking for yourself and stop listening to the junk on the news. Do you not realize it's all censored and paid for by a certain group of people who want to control you and what you see? Seek the truth and stand up for it! Trying to answer all the above questions.

You doing OK over there, Angela?
by (3.1k points)
Yep! Just wondering people aren’t questioning everything going on right now.
by (3.2k points)
@swipple1 unfortunately, it’s extremely difficult to answer those questions from where I (we) sit, even though it is easy to question everything. I am skeptical about a lot, but ultimately that takes a back seat to keeping my family safe, protected, and healthy. I hope you find the answers you are looking for and stay safe.
by (8.3k points)
I mean. it's not THAT difficult to answer those questions is it @tridactyl481? Just starting from the top: 1. ) Wal Mart sells food, Kohls doesn't. We need food to live, I don't need discount shoes for my toddler. 2. ) Lots of mom and pops are open, specifically the ones that sell food. 3. ) A bit of a red herring here, but most abortions don't happen at hospitals and are time sensitive. You can get an elective surgery in a few months, in a few months an abortion is off the table. 4. ) Killing the virus on surfaces is different than killing the virus once you're infected. On top of that, you don't have to stay inside you just have to stay away from other people once you're outside. Outside places get closed down when people aren't staying away from each other. 5. ) This one just makes my head hurt, but most shelter in place orders are being enforced under the broad emergency powers granted by the state and federal government under federal law and state constitutions. An emergency declaration and response is not, in and of itself, the law. It is enacted under the law, which did go through the legislative process. 6. ) Nobody actually knows what the death rate is right now, because our ability to test is awful. The death rate on confirmed, closed cases is 17%. Say there are 10x more infections than we know about, that still makes the death rate 1. 7%. The fear comes from cities like New York and Madrid, which had their healthcare systems completely overwhelmed and refrigerated trailers brought in because the outbreak spiraled out of control. Imagine that, but everywhere (and worse, because all of the resources surged to NYC to fight the outbreak there won't be available). 7. ) That's their job. 8. ) Because that's going to be the best way to stop this thing once we have a vaccine. If you have a mass of people the most efficient way to vaccinate them is en masse. 9. ) People are not their jobs. Some jobs are simply more necessary for the day to day function of everyone else being alive than others. Though it's a fair question to ask of somebody who is pushing to have tens of thousands (at least) more people die. 10. ) Who are they? People spreading bullshit memes and inane lists of questions on the internet? Good question. Why have you decided to do this? 11. ) Objection your honor, relevance? 12. ) Because now we know more about how it spreads and that it's possible to spread the disease a-symptomatically. We didn't know that two months ago. N95 masks for everybody would be better, but we don't have enough of them so cloth masks will do. 13. ) A cloth mask doesn't restrict your oxygen more than a respiratory disease. No thinking person is going to put a mask on their child so tight and so restrictive that they suffocate. And if they do, I'd argue they aren't a thinking person. 14. ) I think it depends a lot on their parents. Kids with parents that don't believe everything they read on the internet are probably going to come out of this better than kids who's parents do. 15. ) Most other death rates have slowed because we're doing the thing that leads to them less. Less driving? Less car accidents. Less swimming? Less drowning. Etc. 16. ) Because China is one of the most prominent players on the geopolitical stage, and it was their turn to host whatever meeting you're talking about. 17. ) These are the leaders we elected doing their best to bring an out of control situation to heel. Remember earlier when you talked about a republic and not a democracy? Well we voted for these people to make decisions on our behalf (like they do in a republic, or probably better said in our case a representative democracy but let's not get too far in the weeds). That's what they're doing. If you don't like it, you should vote for a different one in a few months and do you best to convince others to do the same. Though I may suggest spreading disinformation like this isn't the best way to do it. 18. ) Hospitals aren't paid for deaths, they're paid for treatments. They get more money for COVID-19 cases because they're more expensive to treat than regular patients. 19. ) He didn't. 20. ) Because he's one of the smartest and richest people in the history of the world, and hasn't been a "computer geek" for a long time. If he wants 7 billion vaccines it's because there are 7 billion people in the world and the best way to wipe out the disease is to vaccinate everyone. 21. ) They are organizations someone started. 22. ) Because while pandemics happen with some regularity, nobody really knows when one is going to hit. They're a surprise. The odds that you're going to get hit with one over a 4 year period are high, the odds you're going to get hit with one over an 8 year period are a near certainty. He made the prediction and is now spearheading the response because he's one of the worlds foremost experts on communicable diseases and pandemics. 23. ) They aren't infringing on Christian religious freedoms anymore than they are Jewish, or Muslim, or Buddhist, or Wiccan, or Satanist religious freedoms. You're free to practice whatever religion you want, you just need to practice it by yourself for a little bit. Well, that ended up being all of them. Longer than I anticipated but I was on a conference call and had the time. You're welcome for clearing that all up Angela.
by (3.2k points)
@iconostasis23 well, my point was more of, we can come up with scary conspiracy theories about anything, but we need to take care of ourselves first and foremost. And I don’t mean be selfish, I mean us, our families, our communities, etc
by (8.3k points)
Just out here doing what I can Glenn. I only meant to do a few but the conference call was boring. The "Gish Gallop" is an old trick that people with bad ideas have been using forever. "I'll just try and overwhelm people with so much bullshit they can't possibly refute it all, so either they'll give up and not try or they'll miss one or two and I can't point to those one or two points and claim victory. "
by (3.1k points)
@iconostasis23 I’m so glad you can answer them but you missed the entire point. ‍♀️
by (8.3k points)
What was the point then Angela? You claimed to be seeking the truth, I had the truth you sought. It wasn’t that hard to find. I knew most of the answers without even needing to research them. Edit: Also, if the point wasn't to answer the above questions, why did you end your post with "trying to answer the above questions? "

Being pregnant right now. nobody allowed at my appointments. Only my husband in the delivery room. No visitors, not even my other child. Limited pain medication options due to rationing. Can't have a baby shower. Can't have family come help. There was no way to predict this but dang my timing was bad.

Mass Comm professional here. (Not part of the mainstream media. ) I’d like to chime in about “conspiracy theories”. They exist for a reason: propaganda! We live in a hyperactive communication environment where information flows at the speed of thought. In this environment, there are entities competing for eyeballs. They want people’s undivided attention. To get people to pay attention they have to strike a nerve. Fear, uncertainty and doubt is the formula. (FUD) To create this dynamic information is either withheld, exaggerated, or repeated over and over. Conspiracies bloom in this environment of cognitive dissonance. People naturally have a need to make sense of their worlds so most of us are left to our own devices. Many indulge in all kinds of stories. To find the truth is very difficult unless you’re right there or you do your homework and fact check. Look, it’s not our fault. It’s just the nature of the beast in the age of lightening fast information. Beware of information that tells you to not trust your neighbors. Don’t participate in the division. We have been segmented because if algorithms. Remember that please.
