Following the fire principles. Shooting for 52. I'll still work but draw 4% from investments as well.

As long as I stay working as a state government employee I'm hoping to retire by 58-60. That way I hit my full 30 years of service and maximum retirement benefits .

Also a state employee (PA). I can retire at 55 in my current class, if I promote that will only change to 58.

It “depends”. (So-to-speak)  I’m sick! Anyway, 65 or 70 depends upon certain financial circumstances.

I have a great, low stress job that I really like and that provides really good lifetime benefits, a pension, etc. I plan to continue working until about 60-65, definitely no later than 65. Also, this work from home situation may be entirely transforming how my employer looks at WFH which, previously, was essentially a non starter. If I could do this permanently, that would make working toward 60-65 even more enticing.

Retiring at 50. But I will continue to do passion projects that will bring in income but I will have the freedom to pick and choose what I want to do

It depends on when my current job no longer needs/wants my services. I'm guessing the next 10 years or so (I'm be 57)

Depends on your definition of retire. In 8 years I want to quit my day job and just do our woodshop full time.

I would be thrilled to retire at 60 (I'm 45 now), but I will need to put quite a bit in my 401k to do that since I've gotten a late start

Why stop working? I like to work, I like my job, I like getting paid. Might switch up my hours at some point and take a job that requires me to travel less but I don’t think I’ll ever stop working.
by (3.2k points)
@iconostasis23 why stop working? To do things you enjoy more than working.

Spending the majority of your life doing something you don't enjoy and waiting so long to do something you do sounds rough.

My dream is to do work I absolutely love and just wind down the number of hours I work per week as I get older. I don’t have a specific age in mind.

As soon as someone gives me enough money, cuz I'm sure as hell never going to earn that much.

I'm 29 now. Hoping to retire traditional work by 55. It would be cool to begin working for myself by age 40 so that I can go part time for the last ten years of traditional work.

My husband and I both retired from full time work before turning 30. For me that was the end of 2018, and for him it was the end of last year.
