Need advise!  Our whole main floor has an awesome wood laminate.Need advise! Our whole main floor has an awesome wood laminate. We have an open layout. Enter our front door there is a small foyer, kitchen/dining to the right and living room to the left. From the foyer area you go 6 stairs up to bedrooms and 6 stairs down to our family room. The family room, stairs, and hallway upstairs are all carpet. The carpet has got to go! I’ve decided to continue the same wood flooring downstairs instead of getting new carpet. What do we do about the hallway upstairs and the actual stairs? That would be the only carpet left besides the bedrooms. Would it look weird to just get new carpet for that area or should we do that part wood as well? My husband and I are split on this hence the reason why I’m asking Thanks

My parents have wood everywhere except the bedrooms. The stairs up and the hallway by the bedrooms are also wood. It looks really nice and flows well.

We have wood or laminate on all the floors except the stairs (we have dogs and a small kid and I’m worried about slipping and broken hips) and bedrooms. We have the same carpet on both stairs as the bedrooms, so I don’t feel like it looks awkward.

The hallway and loft at the top of the stairs are wood again.

We have wood everywhere except our stairs and upstairs. We will keep it that way when we go to replace the carpet

Carpet on stairs and upstairs are perfect. Specially if small kids or worried about falling. I have that. Looks great and makes sense lol. I love it

Its totally acceptable to only carpet stairs. Our split level has laminate too but carpeted stairs and upstairs hallway

Thanks ladies! At least now we have options! At this point I’m going for whatever is cheaper on my wallet

@speciation cheapest will be carpet on stairs. Wood stairs are very expensive (if they are done correctly! )

My whole house is wood. The only place I have carpet is on my stairs

If I had my choice I'd do wood stairs with a carpet runner
