Engineered hardwood?  Or solid hardwood?Engineered hardwood? Or solid hardwood? If you could replace the floors in your home and wood is your choice, which product do you go with? And why? Thanks!

Depends on your lifestyle and household. I prefer engineered because of its durability. I had solid and it scratches, warps, expands, contracts. Now mine are scratchproof, waterproof and super easy to clean

Solid hardwood cause you can refinish it a few more times than engineered hardwood.

So we did both. Long story. The downstairs in my home is solid hardwood that we refinished and the upstairs is identical and engineered wood. I like the upstairs better. It’s easier to clean and more resilient. I know real wood is better but I like the fake stuff.

Engineered because it can withstand spills etc from kids, much more durable in humidity too plus it costs less.

I have a question for those of you with both, is the engineered softer? I have hardwoods in part of my house and my son, who is four, is starting to develop a callus on the same spot on his as I am.
