As a woman do you prefer a male or female therapist? Any recommendations on a good one?

I saw a male one for a couple of years at BHES Plainfield. I finally dropped him during my pregnancy because I was just fed up with his behavior and superior attitude toward me. I don’t know if it was a gender thing or a religious thing, but he was an ass. I switched to a female one in Naperville and she really helped me through my postpartum anxiety. I guess it kind of depends on what you would be going in for. I don’t know that I’ll go back to a male because they just don’t understand. can’t empathize as much as a woman who has maybe been through what women go through.

I love @ulmer at The Centered Life. She’s really easy to work with and used a lot of different techniques to help.

Have had both. Can’t say I had a preference. It depends on who you can connect with and not feel judged by the most. You’ll know once you go after a session or two. The important thing to understand is that they realize you have to be a good fit too, so there is typically no bad feelings about it.

I've had both, and I really liked both, but I've felt like I've developed a stronger rapport with my female therapist (I've also been with her longer than I was with my Male therapist, so that could also be a reason why)
