Call me CRAZY but I swear someone is listening to us in our home office. Let me explain. so I can be in every other room in the house and never get a phone call on our office landline but then as soon as anyone walks into the office, within 5 mins or so a damn telemarketer calls the line. Sometimes more than once depending on how long we stay in office. My husband had brought this up to me months ago and I dismissed him thinking HE was crazy but today it happened once again while I was in there cleaning which I received 2 calls (never answered) within 7 mins apart. Are we going crazy or what? ‍♀️‍♀️

@sulphuric59 ah no idea then. But I do frequently notice Facebook ads on my phone related to something said in face to face conversations that I've had.

My devices are listening to the point my smart TV now has commercials based off my recent Google searches. I get FB ads for stuff we've talked about. I'm quite sure my phone, Alexa and Google are listening. I thought I was going crazy until I reached out on FB and received comments from others confirming it has happened to them and I'm not nuts.

@sulphuric59 Davisson-Frazier I’m telling you it’s enough to make you go crazy! (ME that is) lol

@sulphuric59 it's crazy. My friend told me to switch to a search engine called duck duck. something I already forgot. All well if they want to spy on me I can make it interesting for them

@sulphuric59 I'm on it! How to bury a body, how to poison someone, how to move kilos of cocaine and gun trafficking are on the list. I'll let you know if the black helicopters come by

I think any “smart” device is listening. That’s just my opinion though. Also, you may be noticing a lot more now lol.

@cairo this is why my husband doesn't want to buy an Alexa or anything similiar. But, I mean, the government can listen to us all they want. we aren't that exciting in my house.

Duck duck go is another search engine to switch too. We aren’t all that exciting either, but I 100% believe they are listening. Way to many times I’ve had conversations and then adds come up.

@kodak0 but the weird part is it’s only in our front office away from all devices and our landline rings with these telemarketers. If it was ads popping up I’d get that but phone calls? To an office line? Weird I tell ya
by (490 points)
@sulphuric59 very weird definitely.

@kodak0 Right?!?! I mean I understand Algorithms with the pc but not calls

@sulphuric59 yes, I’ll ask around, but that’s strange.

@clypeate phone calls though?
by (820 points)
@sulphuric59 I've been getting telemarketers calling me when I'm home with my kids but when my husband is home no one calls me. I also have Alexa in my kitchen and bedroom sometime it would start talking out of nowhere. I also do a lot of research as well on my phone and home computer while working from home.

@clypeate so strange! I’m actually kinda glad someone else has had a similar experience. It creepy AF!

@sulphuric59 very creepy! When my husband gets home from work I tell him about strange stuff that's going on I even record it on my camera. He was like someone is watching us and I believe it.

Fun thing I learned a couple days ago. check Facebook settings for "off Facebook activity". Haven't looked yet, but I'm quite sure the same stuff exists for Amazon and Google, maybe Comcast too?
