Personally not worth going unless your staying in a cabin away from others, we are waiting til next year now. I think the beaches are the worse place to go right now until those numbers are down

We go to eagle river Wisconsin every year but still debating it. Supposed to go end of July
by (2.5k points)
@buddha I am a Realtor up there and down here. They’ve reopened. I do believe some of the normal festivities for certain areas have been cancelled but not much right now for cancellations in Eagle River
by (3k points)
@aut yeah we have a family house. Part of me just wants to spend the whole summer and part of me is dreading driving the 6 hours it takes to get there with minimal stops for the toddlers
by (2.5k points)
@buddha yes I get it. I do it every week or 2. But a few weeks would do some good with a little more outdoor recreation

Driving to Hilton Head in July.
by (470 points)
@frontage3619 how is it there? We were looking for somewhere new to go, and I was looking there!
by (1.6k points)
We have never been! I was just researching places that are within driving distance. On the way we are stopping in the Smokey’s for a day and Nashville on the way back. I read it’s super close to Savannah too so we may visit that for an afternoon as well!
by (1.1k points)
@hexachord Hilton head is nice (clean warm water, nice town, not much to do though but we like that). Look up North Topsail Island. That’s our favorite! You can get oceanfront properties for so cheap, and it’s a cute little town!
by (1.1k points)
@frontage3619 Savannah is thr cutest town ever! We went on a haunted ghost tour that was fantastic. The river walk has tons to do. Look up all the historical houses and the history behind it!
by (1.6k points)
We are really looking forward to it. Savannah looks so cool. I wonder if my kids would be scared of a ghost tour

We were supposed to go see a Broadway musical in NYC and visit my family. Then we were going to go to OBX where I grew up. NYC is cancelled and I am thinking about canceling OBX. We're leaving June 8, if we go.
by (10k points)
@rancid @sansone4 Bingenheimer love NYC, definitely not a good idea to go there this year :(
by (1.5k points)
@limbert Sidio what part? My brother lives in KDH. He has a 2 bedroom apartment under his house so I can stay there. I guess I'm just nervous to get it from someone and then give it to my 92 year old Gram before I know I got it.
by (540 points)
@rancid @sansone4 Bingenheimer we put NYC on hold as well since broadway won’t be open.

We camp. We have a trailer so we will just stay to ourselves at our camp site. We also just got a pool at home so that'll keep us busy at home.
by (1.5k points)
@gavial we have a camp site in Morris right on the Illinois River. Now I just need the boating ban to allow me to take my kids, and we are in for a great summer. At least they can swim on our little beach at our site.
by (3.9k points)
@rancid @sansone4 Bingenheimer you own the site? Can you give me details?
by (1.5k points)
@calm20 we don't own it. Its rented for the year. It's on someone's private property and they have campsites set up. There aren't showers or bathrooms though. You can rent portapotties if you don't have a camper with one. There is a company that will come out and clean them. There are 3 boat launches. We are keeping our popup and boat out there all year. It is from March 1 through last Sunday in October. You can keep the same site year after year. You can build a deck, fence, or whatever you want.
by (3.9k points)
@rancid @sansone4 Bingenheimer can you send me info? Or just post it? We’d probably be looking for next year.
by (1.5k points)
@calm20 yes. My husband just went back to work and is working nights. When he wakes up, I will ask him. Honestly I just know how to get there, picked out the site I wanted and read the rules. He did all the talking.  If I don't PM you before 2, message me. I forget things.
by (6.4k points)
@calm20 you can also check out Braidwood Rec Club or South Wilmington Sportsman's Club. We belong to SWSC and you can get seasonal sites there. It is a waiting list though.

Driving to Mt. Rushmore in 2 weeks! Staying at a KOA & hiking.
by (3.2k points)
@partain Geiselman how long is the drive?
by (1.4k points)
@submersed10 about 13 hours. We are going to stop overnight on the way to & from. Otherwise the kids won't make it lol. There's a lot of camp grounds (KOAs are what we are doing) between here & there. We figured they would be better than hotels for cleanliness & social distancing.
by (1.4k points)
I know a lot of things are staying closed until July, but the camp grounds - national parks are opening up. Badlands is there too.
by (1.5k points)
Sounds like an awesome vacation. I was just asking my son of he wanted to do this trip. It's a quick drive actually. I never realized that before last year when I was looking into it.

I had a trip booked to Cancun for my bday in September but with all the cancellations the company we booked through went bankrupt, I just have to find a new deal to book! I'm def going somewhere, I will spend my 40th bday somewhere warmer with a tropical drink if it kills me- even if it means turning up my heat and getting a good looking bartender to serve me drinks! I prefer not my house though, I feel like my house and I need some space, it's getting pretty clingy.

Our closest friends moved out of state two years ago. So we all meet up in Tennessee to go motorcycle riding together in September every year. Hoping we can get at least a date night in before baby comes but at this point when will it even be safe to have family help babysit or be able to go out. Sucks but nothing we can really do until it's safe.
