Is the first generation doorbell ample or do I have to pay the big bucks to get the quality?

If you have power at the doorbell, always always always always get the Pro. You'll regret the RVD1 and 2, Get the RVDPro. Always. Set a deal alert, there's always deals on the Ring Pro, never pay full price. Once again in case it wasn't clear. Get. The. Pro.

I use the first gen, and it is fine. I've never tried more advanced versions.

Lowe’s had RVDB2 for $129 around holiday. If you’re military you get 10% off that. Mine is battery op but I only have to charge it about once a month and Mine is set sensitive.

Buy it on sale from Amazon for $120. They go on sale all the time. I bought 4, 2 for my kids.

Buy the pro, don't even consider anything else. it's worth the extra money!
