So I have the Ring video doorbell 3 and only get about 20 secs if that much of recording. Video stalls and sometimes doesn't catch all my movements. Ex: I can come on my porch and Ring doesn't record til I've opened the door going inside. Why is this? It's not hard wired.

Mine has too much of a delay as well. There’s no way I can connect and talk to someone who is there, because they’re gone by the time my video connects.

@pituitary. right. Mine has a biiiiiig delay. Don't understand. ‍♂️

@colbycolbye and mine has never been good. So it’s not something recent with the software.

What I want to do is automate the viewing process. When the Ring detects motion, I want my Show to automatically turn on viewing and communicating.

I’m experiencing something similar now as well, was working great and now not very sensitive at all. Wondering if they updated software to address false notifications, will report and maybe they cal assist.

@gasser. I did call and they had me to reboot reprogram or whatever with the diagnostics. Still no change.

@gasser. could be an update issue tho.

This is common for our Ring 2. They only record for 20 seconds, it should continue until there is no motion! We have had it catch the FedEx guy halfway across our yard going back to his truck in the road. Not him pulling up in front of the house, not walking across yard to house, not on the porch, not throwing package on the porch. Nothing until he is almost to his truck, so you get his back, at a distance, that's it! Seems pretty worthless most of the time.

I had all these problems with my wireless ring cams, or any wireless outdoor video for that matter. I ended up getting all poe wired ring cams and have no problems. My take on this is go wired off you can, and if you must go wireless, have outdoor hotspots outside your house to get a strong uninstructed wifi signal.

You answered your question in your last sentence. Common problem with Battery cams. Get the non battery powered cams and doorbell.
