I recently installed the Ring Doorbell 3 into my original doorbell wiring and the Ring 3 is working fine and indicates that it is charging but the old inside chime is not functioning. The Ring Doorbell 3 technical information states that the diode is built into the Ring 3 so no diode is supposed to be required. How do I get the Ring 3 to activate the old chime?

Just went through the same issue. Open App > Choose Camera > General Settings > In-Home Chime Settings > Advanced Settings > Chime Thankspe = (Mechanical for me).

Did that resolve your issue?

Glad it worked, upgraded my Ring2 for a Ring3+ and must've checked the wiring 6 times; mounted/re-mounted the camera at least 3 time. Finally called Ring and went through a reset. The feature is 'new' and should've been one of the first items to look at, but their runbooks haven't been updated yet. We just happened to stumble into the setting!
