I have two ring spotlight outdoor cameras basically focused on the same area one is linked to the other (#2 will activate if #1 activates -for motion/sound). Does the linking not work if camera one goes live , rather than being triggered? I was watching some footage from yesterday on camera #2 and there seemed to be some video missing. meaning that I know something was going on (because it was captured live on camera #1 but there was no video of that timeframe on camera #2). So I guess my real question is, does the linking with camera #2 only work if the camera#1 turns itself on, rather than me going live on camera #1?

If you go live on a camera then it should record that live moment on that specific camera, but I don’t believe the second would be able to record in that instance since you’re in live mode and it isn’t looking for a motion trigger from the other camera.

@pentosan53231 darn it. That’s what I thought. I was hoping it would get both angles. I’m going to see if there is a setting where if camera 1 is on for any reason then camera 2 will also record.

@vanover If it caught the motion (whether linked or not), it still should have recorded, but I wonder if it just missed the motion that you were looking at on the other camera?

@pentosan53231 it was pretty obvious motion. Two people on my porch for about 8-9 minutes . nothing bad, I knew who they were. but the second camera could not have missed them. It must have to do with the triggering vs going live. I guess I know what I’m Researching today.

@vanover yes, in that case it definitely should have caught them, I wonder if it was in "cool down" mode after being triggered by something else? That would be my only other thought in the situation you're describing. If it's a battery device and your motion detection is set to light then it will have a longer cool down period as well. If it's hardwired, the frequency will still depend on those motion settings.

@pentosan53231 battery. And the cool down/video processing is usually 20-40 seconds. (Too long in my book, if it was REALLY needed) so it should have turned back on after that point. . and DEFINITELY at SOME point in those 9 minutes of them being on the porch.
