If you have Ring cameras around the house, is there any point in having the alarm? Here in the U. K. the alarm isn’t professionally monitored so all it does is alert you or three other people. My cameras will do the same job.

The Alarm is a good augment to premise security even if self-monitored. I turn-on professional monitoring only when I'm away on vacation. Otherwise, I keep it on self monitoring. I have entry sensors on doors, and motion detectors about the house. I also have smoke, flood and temp sensors which come in handy especially when away on vacation. This is addition to my cams. Everyone's needs and circumstances are different.

The alarm is great even if you are home and sleeping to know if doors are opened or movement occurs in areas that shouldn’t have movement. It will also send you a message when you are gone for same reasons. So yes, but you are correct with the cameras also

We have the monitored alarm and 6 cameras and never use it. I did get a panic button though which you can only use with the monitored alarm but if you can’t get it monitored it would be useless. If someone trips the alarm they will also trip your cameras if you have cameras everywhere.
