At this point I gotta give up on my ring doorbell. It goes off constantly so I have to recharge the battery every three days. I talked with ring support and they tell me it’s hooked up right. Any final ideas before I dump it? And to be clear, in my original post I didn’t mention it is hardwired and version 1.

Change your zones so it’s not so sensitive.

Hard wire design and if needed re-Locate so you don’t have the degree of action

Wedge kit to point it downwards?

I’m with you. I get much more battery life out of mind but overall dissatisfied with Ring. I pay the $30/year so I can feel like I didn’t put holes in my siding for no reason but I’ll surely not buy another Ring product.

Really shouldnt have to consider upgrading to hardwired. Its should be fit for purpose. But if you are getting a lot of traffic/people walking by etc. Then in reality its the best thing to do. Sure you can buy a power supply to upgrade your battery version so you dont need to replace everything. You can find them on amazon

@foliolate I should have been clear, it is hardwired.

Its hardwired and still the battery is loosing power? Something is up then. Either with the power supply or with where your doorbell is situated.

I would use a wedge kit or angle kit. Pointing it in a different direction. Maybe it won’t pick up so much unwanted movement

Is this the original ring doorbell. I had a similar problem now with the additional settings in the phone app and the ring doorbell 2 my false alarms and battery draining has pretty much stopped. I moved the original ring doorbell to cover the back door where there is no traffic.

@internist It is the original, thanks. May have to give version 2 a try.

Change the zones and the frequency. This is better than complaining that it missed something. Also cutoff the notifications.
by (330 points)
@crevasse I did both of those. And cutting off notifications doesn’t stop it from having the battery go down. Try to think before you type.

I think my ring is magic I’ve had it 3 months and my battery is still fully charged. I think who installed it hard wired it? I didn’t think that was possible

Ive seen this problem usually related to the power supply.

I get like 20 to 25 notifications from mine a day which I expected so I chose the pro no batteries.

I am about to dump my floodlight camera too! One day it was working fine then all of a sudden it takes me to the beginning screen when I first set it up? Had to enter username and password which it didn't recognize said wrong username and password so I called support and they tried to text me a temporary password but i never received the text with password so they said they needed to turn it over to the higher team and they would get in touch with me well am still waiting and no one has contacted me so am getting ready to dump it in the trash. Very disappointed in this company.
