Has anyone purchased the solar panels from Wasserstein for the Spotlight Cam? Mine don’t seem to charge/fit correctly? What did you do? I bought 5 and installed 4. Wasserstein is no help. I don’t recommend using their products.

I have 2 spotlight cams and both have Wasserstein solar panels. I purchased and put them up 2 weeks ago. Solar panels work great. Not so happy with the limited motion adjustments on the app though. Hopefully Ring will improve that and allow customization

@unquestionable938 which spotlights do you have ? Do they look like this on the back?

@aurum69 I believe so. If you’re confused about the screw holes on the body of the spot cam, the small screws that come with the solar panel don’t go into those holes. Put the mount back on in the direction you want it. Then use the screws from the solar kit and they screw into the mount holes. Not the body of the cam holes.

@unquestionable938 I think that’s what I did. Let me snap a pic

@aurum69 that’s correct

@unquestionable938 so I don’t understand. I even went back and wiped the panels to see if there was dirt or a film covering them.

@unquestionable938 I have 4 of them and non of them seem to be working.

@aurum69 must not be in direct sunlight then. It won’t show in the app that it’s working. You just see the battery charge go up

@unquestionable938 three of them get front facing morning sun. Not blocked by anything. The other one is on the side and gets full sun at around 2 o’clock

I have one for my spotlight cam and it works fine. what issue are you having?

@tarsia there seems to be two versions of the Spotlight cam. I’m told mine is the newer version and the solar panels are for the older units. I had no idea before I purchased and installed them.

Forget the solar panel. i use the power adapters. much better. Make sure you buy the correct adapters for the model you have.

@julieannjulien96 Don’t have any place to plug them. That’s why I chose solar.

The Ring solar panels work great. Great for mounting a cam on a tree in the yard. It keeps the battery charged.

I hate to say it but you will need to buy the correct solor panel version. The solar panels do work fantastic if they get anywhere between 2-3 hours of direct sunlight each day. I have never had my batteries dip below 90%.

@decurion I thought I was getting the correct one. The box says for spotlight cams and that’s what I have

@aurum69 sorry to hear that. You might be able to return them or put them up for sale and get the other solar panels.

@otes342 that’s great, I have 4 also. None of them work.

@aurum69 make sure you plug in all the way then install the two screws

@otes342 I did. I’ll look to tighten tomorrow. It’s cold out.

That was what I found with the first on I installed I did not have it in all the way I pushed it in a few time to make good contact and the problem was solved. If you have a volt meter you could confirm that the panel is producing voltage. You will need a small paper clip or a pin to connect to the center contact to take a voltage reading good luck keep me posted

Sunny day and no activity at all on any of the four cams. They each lost about 3% of power.
