I posted earlier that I purchased 5 Wasserstein solar panels (for my Spotlight cams) that don’t seem to be working. Wasserstein sent out replacements. I can’t get those to work either. What could I be doing wrong?

What seems to be the problem?

@electrify Thanks for responding. I installed them as directed but they are not charging the cam. I charged both batteries fully on Monday and now one is down to 89%. This cam is on the front of the house and receives full sun all day.

I have the Same with the same solar panel

@electrify so I guess I’ll have to send them back. That sucks because I tossed the water proof plugs.

I looked at your profile, looks like your in Roosevelt New York. maybe give it until it is not cloudy outside? It is a good product and they are workhorses. Also you want them pointed at the sun at like 9am.

@aurum69 the time remove the mount off the back of the cam, and push that connector into really good and see if after a few minutes it thinks the panel is connected.

@desrosiers thanks I’ll do this and see what happens.

Still doesn’t see the connection

@aurum69 all 5 of them do this?
by (3.2k points)
@desrosiers the first 5 did this. I only tried one from the new batch.

Are the cameras in a high usage area? Could be that the battery is charging with a few hours of sunlight but also discharging at a similar or faster rate as it is being used?

@fuzzy I don’t think so but if that’s happening they’re still useless.

Even with the ring solar panels here I. Florida I find that on cloudy days it will not keep the battery fully charged. We installed a second battery to let them replenish on sunny days and drain down on cloudy days. No problems since we did this.

@discourteous Thanks, I have two batteries in place now. I’ve never seen them replenish with the panels I have. I’m going to order the Ring brand and see if they work any better
