Any ideas on how to get my ring keypad to sync with the base station? When something initiates a chime or a word, they both speak at different times.

They will always have a delay. It sends signal first to base staton to disarm and then the base station sends the disarm signal to the keypad.

@selflove ugh that sucks. thank you

@seigneur you’re welcome. You can minimize the annoyance by lowering the volume of either the keypad or the base station. That helped me.

@selflove yeah i did that but on both, the chimes are louder than the words. lol. i can’t win!

The first time I turned chime alerts on, on my keypad, I received an alert that there would be a delay from the chime on the base station. I tried it for a day but my base station and keypad are only about 20 feet apart, and it was annoying. So I ended up turning it off and sticking with the base station only. If your keypad it in another room (i. e. bedroom), or not in earshot of the base station I can see how it would be helpful.

What does it matter? It doesn talk that much only when armimg or disarming right?

@sulphuric it’s annoying? and with a company as big as ring, i assumed this would be an easy fix

I don’t know how to fix your problem. But can you tell me what you mean by a word. Mine makes sounds but not words.

@desrosiers I think when it says home and armed. Or disarmed

@selflove oh mine does do that. would love it to say your front door is opened.

@desrosiers yes it would be nice. My biggest problem was adding too much to soon and then you get overloaded with phone notifications, vibrations, your phone making noise and then the base station key pads the little blips when you open the doors. It was major sensory overload not to mention when multiple smartphones are near by and each have their own tones and chimes. I basically removed everything and set everything up one by one and went a couple days with it making adjustments until I was able to make it seem less intrusive. I wish you could mute all sounds for 15 minutes so I can exit the house in stealth mode without waking the dogs and having them bark.

This is one of those things that I have a hard time understanding why people are so bothered by. I have two keypads so I hear it three times and have never considered it a major issue. Technologically speaking, it would be quite difficult to eliminate it. the issue is that it's wireless. I suppose they could add configurable delay times. so you could say "if I change alarm status from keypad one, delay the voice on keypad one by 90 msec, base station by 40 msec, and keypad two by 0 msecs. " Basically, you'd have to determine through trial and error what the typical wireless times are to get to each device. And that wouldn't be completely stable. would depend on the wifi congestion and interference at the time. That also would have the effect of adding a long delay before any feedback at the keypad.

@plant yeah it would be a mess but I think adding delays would slow the alarm from doing its job and I think you’d get more siren activations because of the time delay.

Absolutely it would be a mess. And people would mess with the settings and then be on support because of the delays. But there's really nothing else technically that could be done, other than faster, wired connections. That's my point. it's not an "easy" problem. I'm not suggesting they should actually do this.
