How long has it been that the Echo Shows show you the doorbell without having to ask for it?

I have just checked mine and it just says someone is at the door

@luanaluanda86205 just link ring with Alexa, when in the Alexa app look under devices for the camera and in the settings it has devices it’ll ring too, make sure your Show/fire Tv is ticked. That’s how it worked for me.
by (870 points)
Just done all of that and still not working
by (810 points)
@luanaluanda86205 what software you running?
by (870 points)
@ryle3110 I have just deleted the app and reinstalling to see if that works
by (870 points)

I assume mine will do it. I might have to ring my own doorbell and run fast to the show to see lol. Who knows when my doorbell will be rang by a person next. Lol
by (810 points)
@endoplasm633 Lol that’s what I had to do, but to check the bedroom one I got the kids to press it.

Is this when the bell is rung it now show’s automatically? When it goes dark I will be going to ring the bell( would try now but neighbours will think I have lost the plot if I go and ring my own doorbell now
by (810 points)
@polecat8452 yeah it’s all automatic now. at long last. I don’t care what folk think. just go and press it
by (990 points)
@ryle3110 I will go now is it just for the ring ( not for motion)
by (810 points)
Can have either I think? But mines just ring only.
by (990 points)
@ryle3110 Well I went and it just did the normal announcement someone’s at your door but did not open Do I have to change anything in settings all of my show’s announce motion at front door and say someone’s at front door when bell rung. Then I normal ask to show the front door . But did not open camera automatically.

Few weeks. You can also get notifications when motion is detected right to your echo device.

Did you have to change any settings for this? Also is it wired or battery?
by (810 points)
@pleistocene just link ring with Alexa, when in the Alexa app look under devices for the camera and in the settings it has devices it’ll ring too, make sure your Show/fire Tv is ticked. Mines battery powered. That’s how it worked for me.
by (480 points)
@ryle3110 cheers, it’s all set up right and even says live view in the app but doesn’t appear in the screen. Gonna turn it off and on and see if that changes anything

I’m in the US and I still do not have this feature. I can ask Alexa to show my doorbell and other ring cams just fine, but it does not happen without asking. I have tried seeing where to enable that in the Alexa App, and on the Show itself but find nothing. I’d love for the Show to just automatically show the cam when someone presses the doorbell.
by (870 points)
@tonedeaf397 I will try to explain how I did it. I spent an hour trying to figure it out and a lot of googling. 1. Disabled ring skill 2. Reenable ring skill 3. Screen came up allowing me to link my ring account to my alexa account. 4. That should add your doorbell to you echo devices. 5. Go to devices in the alexa app find your doorbell and turn on “all doorbell press announcement”. Good luck.

I kept on doing that and it didnt work, yhen i got a message from Alexa that it was available and then it started working. I didnt do anything

Yes same here in Uk I have set up a routine in my Alex app to show front door when bell is rung . Off to try to see if this has worked now
by (810 points)
@polecat8452 don’t have to setup a routine to do it, it’s all built in now just need to tick the correct boxes.
by (480 points)
@polecat8452 don’t think it will work through routines as There is no option to “show live feed” it will be down through the setting of the device I believe

Thanks a lot for this information! Great! I had to delete and reinstall the Skill. Now it works here too. But my Alexa plays the doorbell, shows the video and it still wants to Tell me: Entrance has a new visitor. Can I stop this announcement?
by (480 points)
@madelyn Same here, it starts loading the stream then gets cut off by the announcement

All you have to do is disable the show in Alexa and re-enable it. No need to unistall the app at all

That’s really cool. I would rather it show our Spotlight cam.  Much better view and picture. Maybe some day . if we add more devices, we’d have to upgrade internet & can’t afford right now.

Does this benefit work with a Ring Video doorbell II? Or only a newer, upgraded Ring doorbell version?
by (1.8k points)
@ment7 works fine on RVD2.
by (380 points)
Thanks! I'll try it again & try to figure out if I did anything wrong. It would be a great help for me if I can get it to work. Does Ring have exact instructions written up anywhere? Would be helpful.

I noticed about two updates ago (about a month or so). I like it.
