I’m need of a battery powered (maybe with solar) camera to add to my ring system that can record continuously. Any suggestions?

Solar charging will not replenish a battery powered camera that records 24/7/365. You will need to go wired for sure. …….

@bonus - I’m happy to change a battery every day if required.

At this time ring does not have any continuous recording cameras.

You can do snapshot every 5 minutes on battery devices, that’s the best you’re getting. If you do that with two batteries and a solar panel you’ll still kill the batteries in a couple days depending on how much motion you see.

I have too much invested in Ring.

@commie same here. only reason I kept all with them is the promise of 24/7. If it doesn’t come by the time I move then I’ll go with something local that I can manage myself.

@pentosan53231 yeah, I love Ring prices and simplicity, but I'd prefer the 24/7 that Nest has. BUT I don't like Nest price points with so many cameras I'd have to replace.

@commie yeah, I’m in the same boat. have 13 cams total and not paying that much for each one. The reality is I’ll pay out 2-3K for a good DVR or NVR system and just do the Cat6 runs myself in the attic.

@pentosan53231 yeah, that sounds like a plan. Already have a network panel running now.

The only device that I'm aware of that does continuous recording is Nest. Ring does not support continuous recording.

@holocaine4698 - I’ll check them out. Thanks!
