Question for Ring and Alexa experts. I have numerous smart plugs powering lamps in the house. They are all tied into Alexa. Can I have Alexa turn the lights in based on motion on a camera or when someone rings my Ring Doorbell 2? Thanks for the help.

Yes you should be able to do that without a problem provided you tie Rimg into Alexa too.

@rigney you need to go into the Alexa app and look at Routines.

@rigney Your alarm is under smart home or should be. Plugs will likely be there too. What are you trying to do specifically?

@rigney that is two routines. Let me create a quick screenshot.

That creates the “when this happens” area. You will then create the response so you’d go through same area for plugs and have them turn on. After this I’d suggest a “wait (bottom area) for however many minutes and then another step create to power off.

The steps are followed top to bottom so be sure the list is in the correct order.

@rigney and lastly as my brain is distracted I’d put in times. I doubt lights need to come on during the day.

Yep, I have mine setup so if someone comes on my porch after dark, my porch lights come on to enhance video quality since the doorbell pro doesn't have lights, and night vision isn't as detailed.
