When leaving the house do you all arm the alarm on home or away with a dog loose in the house?

Away, the motion sensor shouldn't pick up your dogs

Depends on the dog. Mine absolutely picks up my 100+ lb dobermans, but does nothing for our 10 lb miniatures, or cat.

Depends on the dog’s size. Does not pick up my cats or the 30lb border collie. But does pick up the Great Pyrenees who is about 100lbs.

When i put it on home mode my alarm goes off when the sensor detects any movement it frustrates me

Then you need to set that sensor to not activate in home mode, only away.

You can try turning the motion detector upside down to raise the field of view several degrees. This may make larger dogs appear smaller. If your pets are still detected then you may want to set motion sensors to not be armed and monitored, but still send motion detected notifications to your Ring App.
