I have a property with a ring doorbell and subscription I just renewed. I plan rent the property and to leave the doorbell. How would I give the renter access and privacy yet have the device in my name for the warranty provision that comes with the subscription? Tks

Keep the account and just give them shared usage. This way, when they depart, you can remove their shared usage and give it to the next tenants.

Add the renter as a user on your ring app. I assume you are keeping/paying for the wifi for it?

@willis46. The internet and equipment is paid by the HOA but tenants normally pick up and sign for their equipment. That's not the case in seasonal rentals where the owner's equipment stays. It might just be easier to remove the ring and put it to where we're moving.

Easier? How is leaving it even an option? Nobody in their right mind would rent there know you can watch them come and go. I'm not saying you would, I'm saying you'd have the ability.

Please read the post. @alpers2028 is asking "how to give access" to the ring doorbell HE OWNS and HE is renting out the place. I answered his question. We are talking Outside camera. As for privacy, I guarantee the HOA busy bodies watch more than that doorbell.

What privacy issue? You own the property and assuming the cameras are only pointing outside and you disclose it to them.

There is no privacy you walk down the sidewalk to take out the trash or to go to the mail box and you are on your neighbors cameras whats the difference?

@atherosclerosis728 Its not your own house, you are renting it.

This is what you do you. Put up a cheap doorbell/knocker etc and allow the tenant to put up their own ring doorbell etc. in the leasing agreement put in that they’re allowed to fix ring products to the property but must replace them with original doorbell etc. when they move. That’s what we do at my complex.

Don’t share your details with tenants. It will only bring you grief in arguments. Also how does the tenant know your not checking on her visitors etc etc. it’s destined to fail. If it hardwired replace it with a cheap wired and if not cover up with a blank wall switch and be done with it. Take the ring with you. What if they break it what happens when it disconnects from wifi that isn’t yours anymore. The 2nd user doesn’t have that option to connect I don’t think but I could be wrong there.

I would have loved my landlords installing them. Personally I think it’s a great security device. I don’t understand why people think it’s a privacy issue when all you see is the outside. Nothing more than anyone walking by. I would make the tenant a shared user than change password and remove as shared user when they move.

@virtual . Different folks have different levels of what they feel is invading their privacy. I'll see what experience the management has with them.
