RVD3 supports 5GHz and also has a pre-roll option. Otherwise it’s mostly the same as previous.

From their site on the RVD3 plus: “Our premium battery-powered doorbell with advanced security features including improved motion detection, an added near motion zone and Pre-Roll technology. With an additional 4-second video preview of each motion event, you’ll automatically start recording before you even receive an alert. ”

Sounds the same as the first generation updates I just got.

@crotchety no pre-roll on older models and no 5GHz support.

Thanks, I did read that but it sounds like what their marketing copy always says :)

@pentosan53231 meh works just fine still I guess lol

@duodenary87 it has a true pre-roll. Almost like how the RVD pro starts recording prior to motion. Not as good as truly hardwired, but an advanced feature.

@pentosan53231 that sounds like a good feature if it works

@duodenary87 yes sir, it’s pretty good. I have it at my garage door and it has worked well for me. I run it on battery and I’ve noticed when it gets to about 30% or so that it’s more delayed. I just make sure to charge it before I hit that point and it does exactly what I want.

That being said, I’d never pick it over my Pro model, so much better going hardwired.

Rdb2 is fine for most situations, the rdb3 has had problems with charging (if hardwired) and the 5ghtz band is a bit hit and miss.

What i gather from the comparisons is that the RVD3 has 5Ghz. it is a better faster spectrum which is not so congested as the 2. 4 ghz, but keep in mind that 5 GHz is a much smaller / shorter range than 2. 4 GHz. so if you having issues now it will not make it any better. Unless you have a proper wifi network.
