I use $25 trail cameras from Walmart for that. Time and date stamp. Night vision. Batteries last for months. Micro SD card stores thousands of photos. (Can’t receive pics without pulling the card and no notifications)

I’ve been using an the Arlo Go camera to keep an eye of the exterior of one of my properties. Wireless. No WiFi. The battery lasts a surprisingly long time before you have to recharge.
