SEO audit of a WordPress / WooCommerce site has revealed a stack pages with poor URLs like: https://mydomain. com/page/123/ They all show the site homepage. Any number is a valid URL e. g. even https://mydomain. com/page/1234567890/ What is causing this? Does it cause duplicate content issues? Solution? Thank for any insight you can provide.

If pagination pages are returning the homepage, this may be due to a plugin on the homepage. Badly coded sliders can do it, for example.

Paul, I don't think it will create any serious problems. It is just about the best practices and the website's hygiene.

To elaborate: there is a redirect to the homepage, so no duplicate content. Also, it is a small website, well above the crawl budget. So no real harm is done. But of course, fixing it is the best course of action.

I guess 1 in 3 themes have problems with pagination. Nofollow on links to page/2, page/3 etc. Noindex on those. Both. Canonical to "page 1". But redirect / rewrite to "page 1"? Why not, everything is possible

Whatever is doing that is hurting the site's crawl. Are there alternative ways for visitors (and therefore crawlers) to get to every page on the site? If not, I'd look into replacing whatever is screwing up the archive index pages.

WordPress SEO and meta descriptions So usually I use Yoast to quickly add meta descriptions while developing a site, but with my latest build the home page meta description google is showing is auto-populated from headers and site text despite the fact I set it with Yoast.
