Is there any negative impact of autoplay video or it's just a hoax? How can we host an 8MB video without messing with page speed and metrics? I tried embedding Vimeo/Youtube but it killed the page speed and I used BunnyCDN but default player wasn't working with firefox Suggestions are welcome Thanks

Best answer
1. Don't autoplay. 2. Make it load on demand, not on the page load. (Usually inside a lightbox).

Yes lazyload will help to avoid page load

Syed, a Lazy load above the fold could still mean loading the video immediately. Be careful with that.

autoplay is canceled just placing it on a lightbox with lazyload

Syed, yes. I have misunderstood you. :) If in the lightbox, it is all good. If there is lazy load only, it delays stuff below the fold. If the video is above, then it loads instantly with the page.

Video will be in the center below within content so lazyload is a must rest lightbox will make it look good. I am on it thank you

If your website autoplays any audio or video, I'm leaving immediately. So that's gonna affect your bounce rate. Just don't autoplay

Why would you want to do that to your visitors?

I did a test for example someone landing on a query he's searching for and I made "dynamic query + attention button" that helped to increased CTR and leads in good numbers so I wanted to try it with a video as it might grab more attention if someone deep down triggering that specific query.

Most browsers don't recommend it. It breaks the UX. I am not sure it impacts ranking or not, but if not then it should have a negative impact
