Reads well, has enough linking words and phrases, flows well, is grammatically and punctually sound, goes in-depth into the topic without too much filler content, is well-optimized, has well-thought-out H2s and H3s, has only relevant interlinks and outlinks. i can go on forever. my articles rank first or second page 10 minutes after i've posted them (after submitting a manual request) and I do nothing but content and on-page optimization

@outmarch when you post a blog post you manually request indexing through search console?

1. Usefulness: With respect to user (does it answer the users query? does the page load quicker than a competitors? ) 2. Usefulness: To the search engine i. e. links help the SE find the page, anchor text indicates page subject etc If a factor isn't useful - it probably isn't used

Maybe a little simplistic but. Great content satisfies the search query and adds more IF relevant. ie "What is the temperature outside? " I don't want a thousand-word article

What do you consider great content. I would just look at what content I read, share and find super helpful and useful. Replicate that in your own field.

Great content is unique and answers queries and is written for humans not search engines. It's content that is fully read, shared and bookmarked it's useful informational supportive of a topic and is comprehensive but understandable and useful. it isn't another Ultimate Guide to and the same content spun. If you asked me great content is some that you read share and is a resource and turns site visitors into fans and brand ambassadors

Content is what keep the visitors stick to your site. If you properly used relevant keywords in your content and its coding is clean then it is SEO friendly content. If your content is copyright free then it is a unique content. If your content answers the question of visitors then its a perfect content. If your content has good use of grammer and words then its a well written content. And the content which has all the above attributes is known as "The Content That Ranks"

Try thinking of each article as a question and answer> Example article title "Can I feed my dog bananas? " then dive into a thorough answer. This way you're capturing searchers who hit that specific question and you're answering it well. Also try and hit a solid word count, over 750.

Good content answers a query which satisfies user intent. Great content is information that's more than just satisfying. It mesmerizes with angles you've never thought of before. In rare cases, it sucks you in and make you buy that e-Book for $9. 97 and doesn't allow you to unsubscribe no matter how hard you try due to powerful intrigue factor. It's like super glue mixed with steroids.

Searched for "hialeah rhinoplasty" - content for rhinoplastyhialeah . com was truly "mesmerizing" "high-quality" content. bookmarked for future. ;)

@mascle7711 that's simply algo manipulation and ranking has NOTHING to do with great content. They are separate activities. ;)
by (1.6k points)
@legroom - just responding to the OP - "People say: 'Content is good', 'Great content make high ranking', . - so I interpreted that statement to imply "great content makes high ranking" ? The point of showing that "manipulated algo" search term, was to point to the myth that "great content = higher rankings". Who decides what "great content vs good content" actually is? We have a pretty good idea that Google can't read. determined by the crappy mass spam pages we see ranking at the top. so who, then, decides what is "great" content? Maybe I mis-understood the OP? To me it seemed he was looking for a definition/example of "great" content so that he could RANK higher? I could be way wrong here too - maybe "lost in translation"? Just throwing it out there is all, not trying to bring any controversy . but what do I know, I'm just a stupid carpenter turned SEO back in 2006 . I'm still new to this inter-web Googley stuff. ;)

Content that is relevant, content that provides value, content with buyer intent keywords, cotent that answers or solves the problem! Keyword reseach is the foundation of all great blog post Articles. They must be low in competition to have a good fighting chance in ranking #1 on google. The next step would be to promote and build backlinks.
