Dilemma I have Smart Things and also Alexa. Lately all my things that are in Smart things app are automatically duplicating over to Alexa device list. I end up with her telling me I have more than one etc I keep deleting those secondary ones but they come back. A lot are controlled by their own apps which I used in routines etc. So too many chiefs trying for control here. Is there a setting to prevent this? I think it may be related to an update. I tried deleting the smart things skill but several things connected to it use it I guess because that caused problems. Thanks

Are you using anything else that is also paired with Alexa? IE: simple commands & ST?

@timeous, open one of the doubles In Alexa and see if the details show Smartthings or an SC next to it.

@timeous, so none say SC in Alexa? The only time I had this problem was because of simple commands which you are also using. Don’t think it’s a coincidence. Go into SimpleCommands. com using a browser and make sure you don’t have your ST & Alexa active in there.

@timeous, I know what you’re saying but this is how to troubleshoot a problem. Have you or anyone ever activated Smartthings inside simple commands? If not, then I’m lost. If so, that is your problem.

So to get this correctly all of your smart things skills are just randomly duplicating to the alexa app for no reason ?

Go into your Smartthings Classic app (must be classic). Go to Smartapps. Go to Alexa. Turn off the toggle for Alexa to find things or customise the list of things Alexa can see

Hmmm. not sure. Does it not find the hub you already have on your account by signing in? Can you check the locations?

My nest thermostat does this same thing and i found that the only way for me to stop it is to not link it to my wink hub 2 and just let alexa do it or vice versa !

I have this happen too. I don’t use SmartThings much anymore though.

@timeous, you have 2 options. 1. Disable (not delete) the duplicate in Alexa 2. Turn off this toggle in Smart Things > Automation > Smart Apps > Alexa.
