Question.  just yesterday we switched out our nest thermostat to an Ecobee4 and holy cow the amount of air that is coming out of the vents literally doubled, you can actually hear it blowing thru the vents.Question. just yesterday we switched out our nest thermostat to an Ecobee4 and holy cow the amount of air that is coming out of the vents literally doubled, you can actually hear it blowing thru the vents. how is this even possible just changing thermostats?

Its only possible if you have a multi stage unit that your old nest was incompatible with that the ecobee is compatible with. I think after the gen 2, all nests are compatible with them, so it may just be placebo. Most thermostats just serve as an on off temperature switch.

If you still have Nest look at level bubble on back. If green then older gen 1 or 2, blue then gen 3. Connectors different too but bubble color is easiest way to tell.

Did you switch a filter at the same time. Maybe it was plugged up

Ecobee has an option to have the thermostat control the unit or the furnace/ac controller to control. Not sure which is on by default. I notice a difference when I let ecobee control mine.

I did the same a two months ago. With room sensors my electric bill has dropped considerably.

I know the blower motor fan speed is set on the blower itself. Usually heat is slow speed cause heat rises and a/c is set on a higher speed. I wonder if wires got crossed? IDK, just a thought
