I didn't move from HD to Alien, but I did move from an Asus Mesh setup to the Alien. The difference was like night and day. The Alien is soooo much better than any mesh i've tried in the past.

@howie pricey, but worth it. Especially if you have any devices that use wifi 6. I don’t have any, so I use the WiFi 6 for the mesh point to backhaul traffic to the main router. On LAN speeds are crazy fast.

Not me but the alien definitely is something I am looking at to replace my asus router. the reviews show that the alien is super fast on wifi 6

@manichaeism but how many of your devices will support WiFi 6 today?

I just wish you could do vlans with it. So, I'll stick with the UDM.

I'm waiting for wifi 6e to roll out. Pushing the backhaul to the 6ghz band will make the rest of my network sing.

Just move away from amplifi and use unifi on a UDM or USG would be my advice

@howie no sir I use the UDM as primary router and wireless beacons as my AP's.

I have a 2 story, 3300 sqft home. The office with the router is in the opposite corner of the house from the beacon. That's a lot of walls and interference. This set up doesn't miss a beat

Moral of the story, do your research :)
