I recently bough an Amplifi HD and am not too crazy about the coverage in the house. I have cat 5e in the house already so would like to hardwire the APs instead of the wireless APs that come with the AmplifHD. My house is about 5k sf and 3 stories which includes a finished basement. So, here are my thoughts after doing a little research. 1. I can buy a UDM with one additional AP and that should cover my house. I currently have a non-POE Netgear switch but I will need something to power the AP that I buy, correct? 2. I can buy a USG, US-8-60W, Cloudkey and 2 AP's to set up in the house. 3. Am I missing something with AmplifiHD that will make it perform better? I am getting 160-180mbps at the Amplifi Router (hardwired) but about 30-40mbps on my laptop through an AP. Option 1 is cheaper than options 2 by about $200 or so. I am not an IT guy but am willing to spend some extra money to have great coverage throughout the house. From what I have seen, the unifi software is easy enough to use so I am not worried about it being too complicated to set up and keep running. Am I losing anything by buying the UDM that I will miss? Simplicity is important to me and I don't manage multiple sites, which I understand is a big limitation of the UDM. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
