So I’m building a home and I don’t plan on having any light switches. What is a good wall surface mounted remote that works with SmartThings? I really like lutron Pico remote. But I don’t see where it works directly with SmartThings. Also I need suggestions on a smart bulb that’s on the cheaper side that’s reliable. I don’t need any fancy features just on, off and dimmable.
So I’m building a home and I don’t plan on having any light switches.

I don’t want WiFi devices only zwave, zigbee, or proprietary radio.

@tacklind79 wifi or your home internet. Smartthings uses internet.

It's beyond a bizarre idea, but its also much more expensive. If you have a room with 12 overhead cans, you're going to buy 12 smart bulbs (which will die eventually) instead of a single switch that can turn on, off, dim, control other scenes, and be used by someone who doesn't know how the 'smarts' work?

I've started installing Raspberry-Pi with relays to control my lights, some will have touch scrns, some will have hard switches, all will be wired in parallel with real switches hidden behind a panel, so when the switch is off the Pi controls, when the switch is on the Pi is ignored.

Lighting control. If you would let me know what you are using or your suggestions.

Are you going to have touch screen control panels, motion sensors or ambiant microphones? I think they all have downfalls. At the very least pull the wire so if you have problems it's there

For the love of god don’t build a brand new home and plan on consumer level DIY garbage like smart things. Panelized lighting with keypads is what you want. Best is Lutron Homeworks, second best would be Control4. Your best bet is to find a local Cont

Mainly cost.

I wouldn't say C4 is second best to Lutron at all, especially on the lighting control side Crestron lighting is second to homeworks. Then savant, followed by C4.

This is mad  You are basing the future of your home on the hear and now but, wall mounted control panels are already dated! The future is fully automatic lighting that works around you but it’s always better to have other user interfaces that work in parallel and switches are simple and intuitive. In my new build, I’m having switches but, just better ones, which work with my whole smart home.

Just use smart switches and dumb lights.

I'd recommend home assistant with fully locally controlled lights and automation. You can get a zigbee/zwave stick for $38 plug into a pc and run Home Assisant and connect anything you can dream of.

Oh and use switches
