What is a good access point for outdoors? Currently I have an engenius inside. Works good. I have a ubiquiti nanobeam connecting my shop to my house if that matters.

@debroahdebs978 dumb question. When I go outside will it be seamless? Like streaming pandora and it reconnects without a hitch? Or will I have to manually connect?

@ghiselin , seamless. you have to buy into the Ubiquiti system though.

@debroahdebs978 what do you mean buy into? So far I have the nanobeam from house(modem) to shop switch. Will be adding powerbeam to farm later.

@ghiselin It is a system You will need: The cloud key Wap inside your home Poe switch And router This would be the preferred setup. Else if you just buy 1. Then you could set it up for your outdoor use. That could work. I am not sure if it would be "seemless".

We used this 1 too. It works as well.

You don't need all the extras. You can use the phone app to provision the AP. The ecosystem makes it easier, but you don't need it.

I've heard good things about ubiquiti and the nanobeam is awesome. So if I just got the good ubiquiti ap I could add the other stuff later?

Sure. I have 3 AC Pros and nothing else ubiquiti. Just used the App to provision, update, and connect to my network. POE is nice so you don't have to run power, and the cloud key makes updates and provisioning easier. But all of my APs are near an outlet and an Ethernet connection anyway so it wasn't that bad for me.

How would you guys install it on the building pictured? On each side of my shop there is about 80 ft where I could possibly be. You think i need one on each side?

@sidney I had that ap lying around. Would rather go full ubiquiti

@ghiselin which is better only if you were wanting to stay on same system

Engenius is good. Just a little tougher to set up.
