I am currently in the market for a front door lock (deadbolt only? ). I currently run 4 nest cameras but use SmartThings for most of my home automation (unless the stand alone systems work well for scheduling - LIFX, Wemo, etc. ). Which would you recommend for offering another way for my family to be able to get into the house? Nest Yale or Schlage Connect?

Have had a schlage for a few years now and no issues. Can't beat coming home and not having to unlock the door because presence unlocks it.

Then pair it rboys lock manager and its pretty great. You can set one use codes. Get a push notification when any or the code of your choice gets used.

I’d second the Schlage options - it works really well with smart things and probably Alexa (I don’t use it but I know it can) Watch for Home Depot to do a sale on them. I’ve usually seen it 1-2x per year.

Does it have an external number pad? Does it work with Google Home? How many codes doesit store?

@gunas touch screen, tons of codes, doesn’t work with google home (that I know of). I have GH, Alexa, ST And mostly use ST except for quickly turning on/off lights and music.

I love the danalock. It is easy to fit, integrates well with many systems including smartthings. Looks like a regular lock from the outside and has a key override. Functionality and reliability are great. Fantastic bit of kit

Schlage is OK. I’ve had a horrible experience with Lowe’s keying multiple Schlage locks. Not sure how they would have been if Lowe’s hadn’t messed them up. Schlage customer service said that Lowe’s is known to mess locks up.

I have been incredibly happy with Schlage Connect. Works near flawlessly and battery life with zwave+ is significantly better. Best part unlike other automated options, is you are able to use a physical key as a backup, juuuust incase your tech fails. Though, I've never had to use the key in nearly 2 years. Alexa integration works well, and smartly requires a pin code if you choose to enable unlocking your door by voice. Plus it's Schlage, a company well known for making safe and strong locks. It's your home, so safety should be the #1 factor.

I have used both Yale yrd-220 and the Quickest 910. The quickest has performed flawlessly for 3 years.

I really like this one from kwikset. it has a keypad that can store 30 codes, and it has the quick key feature which let's you re key the lock to your already existing keys. customer service is also amazing. when the zigbee card wasnt working they sent me another lock free of charge.
