Has anyone used one of these? I bought it hoping it work well with smartthings, but from what ive found and been told it wont work with smartthings as a button controller, which is what i want to do. i also have hubitat, but im thinking that since theres no device handler for ST, there might not be one for HE, either. Is there any way to get this thing working with either hub to control scenes, routines or devices (through the hub), or should i just send it back?

From what I've read, these only support direct association. They do not use Z-Wave Central Scenes (like you'd expect from a modern device. ), so SmartThings, Hubitat, and the like won't be able to work well with them (these platforms normally translate the CentralScene events into button events, but the devices don't send those). If the devices you want to control are also Z-Wave, you could still use Z-Wave Association and bypass the hub. On Hubitat, you have a lot of other options. Pico Remotes require a Lutron Smart Bridge Pro (~$100 USD) but are pretty cheap ($12), so if you were planning on getting more than a few of these crazy expensive, less-featured GE remotes, the cost will soon balance in your favor. :) Otherwise the Hue Dimmer, Eria Dimmer, Osram 2- or 4-button remotes, and many others also work natively.

It does, but if you search the forum you'll find a few people with issues (might just be bad luck but may also be related to channel). I don't like their shape and went with something else instead--they're so close to a standard Decora size/shape but not.

Thats really interesting. I’ve been wondering why someone doesn’t create such an item. Now I know GE does!

The Scene version uses associations and is designed to control devices directly. The Hub version used Central Scene and is designed to send signals to your hub so it can do whatever you want it to do. Get the other version for what you want.
