I have a septic tank that requires a pump. The pump takes the liquid uphill to the leach field. It was the only way it could be done on this property. There was never any alarm put in in case the pump fails. Until now, I've never had a way to put in an alarm out there since I didn't have anything running directly to the house. we're doing some landscaping and I'm going to be able to run some conduit from beside the house all the way out to pretty close to the septic tank. How should I set this up? I have no idea where to even start with products or ideas

Not sure where your located but in pa we are required to put a tank alarm if it reaches a full amount. We always run conduit to power the pump. If they did that you could refish the power supply plus an alarm wire

You want a sensor to check if tank is full? I’ve developed my own flood/leak sensors that could be used to do this. I can even build them to use marine grade stainless steel bolts as sensor probes.

Will your alarm warning be “you’re full of shit” when it goes off?

@beckford13 mine is just a loud buzzer. I believe I'll be changing it per your recommendation now.

Actually I've been meaning to hook my alarm into my Insteon system, I will definitely label the notifications "You're full of shit"

There should be a float that attaches to the PVC in the second tank, about half way up, that activates the alarm. It needs to be set so it goes off just an inch or two before the liquid would backflow into the 1st tank. If I was more ambitious I would take a picture. You don't need more power, if you already have power. The alarm AC wire piggybacks on the pump AC wire.
