If it’s an access point, yes. Not a router. If you get a new WiFi router, it will work but you will have two networks and whatever is connected to your current router won’t be able to see what connects to your new router.

Yes . it doesn't have to be the dchp server it can just be a pass through, in fact we have 3 and still have a wired network both plugged into the main router / modem
